Steve Baker is a respected producer who brings a wealth of entertainment industry and event production experience spanning nearly two decades to his company Steve Baker Productions.
Steve holds a Bachelor degree in music and education from Michigan State University. His interest in music and event production began shortly after college following a successful career in music education. He moved to the Los Angeles area where he began his involvement in large scale event production with the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee on the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad. Steve produced the one hundred member Olympic Fanfare Trumpet Unit that premiered John William’s new Olympic Fanfare and Theme.
 
Following the Olympics Steve managed two of the largest Yamaha Music Schools in the US before leaving for the Walt Disney Company to work in the Entertainment Division at Disneyland Park, one of his long time career goals. At Disney Steve served in a variety of roles that culminated in Talent Casting where he contracted and cast professional and name talent for Disneyland Park, Buena Vista Pictures Special Events, and The Walt Disney Special Event Company as well as consulting with Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, Paris Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. Steve refined his attitude of excellence in show quality and uncompromising customer service during this time.
 
After ten years Steve left the Walt Disney Company to work in the nonprofit sector serving as Executive Producer for the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE). In this role he produced the Association’s annual International Conference. Under Steve’s leadership the conference grew to the most respected arts association event of its kind considered the largest gathering of the global jazz community and attracting music industry constituents from over 25 countries. Steve is a seasoned negotiator and has extensive experience with managing entertainment, hotel and convention center meeting space and vendor service contracts.

During his time with the IAJE Steve presented hundreds of performances and master classes by the preeminent jazz artists from around the world including Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Nancy Wilson, Take 6, Michael Brecker, The Count Basie Orchestra and many others. He has also worked on educational programs for the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands and the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
 
In 2008 Steve formed Steve Baker Productions; a freelance production initiative designed to bring his wealth of experience in the entertainment industry to event clients in need of personalized service and trusted results. Among his clients are; The American Jazz Museum, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Western Arts Alliance, Arts Midwest, and NAMM - the International Music Products industry.
 
Steve has served as Executive Producer for the Rhythm and Ribs Jazz and Blues Festival in Kansas City winning the Visitors Choice Award for Best Music Festival. He has also consulted for Jazz at Lincoln Center and the NEA on the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Awards Ceremony Concert in New York. Steve serves as Technical Director for the Laguna Beach Music Festival, a weeklong chamber music festival in Laguna Beach California presenting a broad range of artists including Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, Brooklyn Rider, and The Calder Quartet.
