The California Jazz Foundation is a non profit foundation dedicated  to providing assistance to jazz musicians in California in need.

Give the Band a Hand is an annual Gala and fund raising event that will honor Corky Hale - renowned jazz harpist and producer and Mike Stoller of the produgious Lieber & Stoller song writing team.  Proceeds will suport the Foundation's programs to assist California jazz musicians in need of financial or mediacl assistance.

Steve Baker Productions is the event producer.

Laguna Beach Music Festival

Laguna Beach Music Festival is a project of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. Launching in 2003 with pianist Claude Frank as mentor artist and the young Calder Quartet as emerging artists, the Festival has grown to a full week of activities.

The 2015 festival featured the Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ), one of the most multifaceted groups in any genre, as well as the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet (LAPQ), who has forged a distinct identity as a world-class contemporary chamber music ensemble.

PEER into the future: EXPERIRNCE Jazz. This very special fund raising and donor appreciation event was presented as a part of the American Jazz Museum's onging efforts to increase sustainable funding and continue to expand exhibits and cultural programming.

A sold out audience gave an enthusiastic standing ovation.

Named Best Big Band in America the Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra is an awesome machine that has flourished over the course of twenty one years under inspried and dedicated leadership. Co-led by bassist John Clayton, his brother saxophone player Jeff Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton CHJO has served as the resident jazz orchestra for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and receives critical aclaim for their live concerts and award winning recordings.

Laguna Beach Music Festival

Laguna Beach Music Festival is a project of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. Launched in 2003 with pianist Claude Frank as mentor artist and the young Calder Quartet as emerging artists, the Festival has grown to a full week of activities. The 2012 Festival honors the legacy of the late philanthropist and music lover Ed Halvajian.

Featured performers included pianist and composer Pablo Zeigler and his Classical Tango Quartet, the Calidore Quartet and violinist Regina Carter.

Pablo Zeigler served as artistic director for the eleventh annual  Festival. Also appearing during the six day festival were the Afro-Peruvian fusion group Huayucaltia and San Diego based world music ensemble Todo Mundo.

Diverse reperatoire and numerous Festival adjunct activities provided a dynamic and inovative program featuring original compositions and the classical Tango music of Pablo Zeigler and Astor Piazzolla.

Since  its inception in 2005, the Rhythm & Ribs Jazz and Blues Festival has attracted thousands of visitors to the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District each year to celebrate three of Kansas City’s greatest traditions: jazz, blues and barbecue. Featuring great performers on multiple stages, a food pavilion anchored by the best ribs in Kansas City, the Jazz Links Education Workshop, the children’s art center and a host of other activities, Rhythm & Ribs provides family-style fun in one of America’s greatest jazz crossroads, 18th & Vine.

2012 Headliners inlcuded multi platinum recording artist Brian McKnight, Grammy Award winning trumpet legend Arturo Sandoval, Grammy and WC Handy Award winning Joe Louis Walker, legendary Kansas City performers The McFadden Brothers and New York baritone saxophonist Claire Daly.

Violinist Joshua Bell performed as  headliner for the  Laguna Beach Music Festival - Edgar Meyer, Calder Quartet return for Festival’s 10th anniversary

Violinist Joshua Bell served as guest artistic director for the tenth annual Laguna Beach Music Festival (Feb 6-12, 2012). Partnering with Mr. Bell were composer-performer Edgar Meyer – master of the double bass who, like Joshua Bell, is as comfortable in the concert hall playing Bach as on the front porch playing bluegrass – and the ever-surprising Calder Quartet.

Concert repertoire and numerous Festival adjunct activities provided a dynamic and inovative program featuring original compositions and classics.

January 10, 2012 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Awards Ceremony and Concert
- Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York

The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship is the highest honor that our nation bestows on jazz artists. Each year since 1982, the program has elevated to its ranks a select number of living legends who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz.

With the class of 2012, the NEA is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the NEA Jazz Masters Awards. The five recipients will receive a one-time award of $25,000 and be publicly honored at the annual awards ceremony and concert, produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center at its home, Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

Billy Childs Jazz Chamber Ensemble

2009 Guggenheim Fellowship awardee and multi-nominated and recipient of Grammy awards … including 2011 Jazz Album of the Year… Billy Childs brings his powerful combination of jazz and classical style ensembles for an exciting and intimate performance in Laguna Beach.

Joining Childs’ jazz group is the classical string ensemble, the Calder Quartet, winners of the 2009 ASCAP Adventurous Programming Award.

The great Jazz-Chamber Musicians with Billy Childs, piano, are Bob Sheppard, saxophoneLarry Koonse, guitar, Carol Robbins, harpCarlos del Puerto, bassMarvin “Smitty” Smith, drums and the Calder Strings: Benjamin Jacobson, violin, Andrew Bulbrook, violin, Jonathan Moerschel, viola and Eric Byers, cello.

This very special concert was filmed for broadcast as a PBS special and aired on KOCE PBS-SoCal on Saturday, April 14, 2012 and received a  TELLY Award for Film & Video.
